Damp underlay

Post by Kevandrew »

Hello. I have removed an old carpet from my upstairs bedroom and I've noticed that an area of the underlay near the bay window feels damp to the touch. The floorboards underneath are bone dry and although the area is near the window there are no signs of penetrating damp on the wallpaper or skirting boards. The area dries out completely in the daytime but seems to become moist overnight. I've marked the patch's boundary with a marker pen and it doesn't appear to be growing. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.
