How much (roughly) should this tiling cost job?

Hello

I'm hoping to have the walls in my kitchen tiled soon.

I’ve attached photos outlining (in red) the areas that will be tiled.

The wall above and below the breakfast bar will not be tiled. The tiling will be between the worktop and the wall units and will not extend beyond the units.

There will also be tiles on either side of the window but not the window sill.

I have already ordered and collected the tiles.

Could anyone give me a rough estimate of the cost of the tiling?

Could be anywhere from £500 to £5,000 . Get a local tiler in to give you a quote. Too many variables, tile size. state of walls where you live are all factors.

BTW if those areas of fill are anything to go by seems like you may have electrical cables running in the wrong place. Hasn't been DIYed has it ?

Any decent tiler will be busy anything from £400-1000 depending on your location supplies required and tile type/ pattern

Why not do iy yourself, labour cost nothing. Buy a cheap Screwfix tile cutter https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-tc115i ... 240v/196vv a few other tools like a notvhed trowel. Lay out the tiles for each wall using spacers to get the layout and cuts. Loads of how to videos on YouTube for guidance.

The obvious thing not mentioned so far is, suppose person W says £207.99 and person K says £6,501+ VAT how will you know who is right? You don't which means you still have to get someone round to look at the job for you, save time get a quote or two now.

To clarify my post above I meant to say to lay out the tiles on the floor to match the wall area to be tiled. This gives you the chance to juggle with the tile courses to minimise cuts and also any batch variation in the tiles. The notched trowel allows you to get an even spread on the adhesive that gives sufficient squash down to get the tile faces level and even. Although a big job you can do it in sections so you do not end tired up in tired f*ck up land.

The photos were taken in February shortly before the electricians returned to do the second fix.

What made you think that the cables are in the wrong place?

I don't know much about these things but I would never pay someone £6,501 + VAT to tile a relatively small area in a relatively small kitchen. I would look elsewhere.

I've contacted some tilers and should be getting some quotes soon but I wanted to get a rough idea of what's a reasonable quote before making a decision.

I've never done anything like this before and I would want it to be done by a professional.

I understand but this is a DIY forum and we like to encourage folk to have a go themselves. Tiling is not that hard, and we can help guide you through it. It is easy to get someone to do it but does it not burn you to have to pay them? You have to have confidence and think it all through first, for example, in your kitchen, your start is the focal point along the tops of the worktops. once you have that line of tiles worked out it all flows from there. That job is dead easy, really. I've received a quote of £350 cash that includes all the materials.

The tiler was thinking of doing the tiling tomorrow and the grouting over the weekend but I won't be available.

Wow, I would give up doing DIY tiling if a job like that, with so many electrical outlets only cost £350; hope it is not money up front .
