This is the ground floor bay window on my house, it has a led roof on it. As you can see the black timber section on the left side has come away and has rotted. There is now a gap where its pulled away which is letting water in.
Can i repair this one section then redecorate it?
or do i need to replace all the timber section?
Can you advise what materials ill need?

You must focus on the lead work. Lead can develop cracks that will allow water through and you need to find anywhere where water has crept through. I would suggest his has caused the rot in that corner. Matching the profile of the moulding might be tricky and you may have to make a section up by gluing up various bits of moulding together. You might be lucky and find a section in a good timber yard. Turning back to the lead you will need a guy who knows what he is doing as it may need redressing and any cracks repaired. Have a loook at Richard Burbridge for the mouldings

Ok great ill get the led issues addressed.
to be honest im not to bothered about matching the moulding if its going to be difficult. What else could i replace that with?
I would remove all that timber moulding and swap for new if its easier and looks smart

I cannot see too clearly from the photo but it looks like there is a square section of wood forming the edge for the lead. Under this is the decorative moulding that makes it look neat. It might be that just the timber under the lead has to be replaces and you might be able to restore the moulding piece with a bit of work and refit it to finish. You can treat it to cure any rot found and use car body filler to fill any voids and make it good.once the lead is fixed it wil dry our anyway.
