Not sure exactly what kind of countertop this is but my guess is marble stone. The problem I have is that every 2 months or so this mold appears and I need to clean it. I cleaned it with mold removal foam and another time with stove cleaning foam (contains the following ingredients: anionic and nonionic surfactant, caustic soda.)
It has slightly discolored spots on surface and I wondered if either mold removal foam or stove cleaning foam can discolor it because it was not there before. Can these also make it easier for mold to form?
Is there something that can inhibit mold from forming or at least slow down the process? Rubbing some kind of water-repellent coating? Wax? Varnish?
P.S. Pay no attention to an old silicone that went black underneath the countertop's edges. I asked previous landlord to fix that so he applied white silicone without removing the old one and after a while mold started growing on it. Had to undo his work and removed it but still left the old one since I did not want to open up crevices. I know it needs to be removed and water-resistant and anti-mold transparent silicone be applied all over but I don't tolerate working with silicone.

Hardly surprising given the mould under the rim of the basin, probably needs the bowl removing, cleaning and re-sealing with good quality silicone sealant.

I need to remove the remaining small pieces left of silicone seal in difficult to clean with putty knife places. Thought about using WD-40 but it will add another job if removing it too since I will be resealing there.
I don't have 99% IPA, methyl spirits and don't want to buy commercial grade remover. I am looking for home available solutions. I see white vinegar can help. Acetone seems better but what I have is nail polish remover. Don't know how it will interact with marble countertop edges and sink's enamel. Should I spray kitchen oil degreaser too?
