Damp by radiator….but….

Post by F20283 »

Hi,

I’ve got a damp patch by a radiator on an internal wall.

Clearly there’s moisture coming from somewhere but I don’t think it’s from the central heating system as it’s not losing pressure.

It’s a late Victorian property and I wonder if there’s any DIY remedy available?

Thank you and best regards.

Sorry, dunno then. seems to be radiating out from the radiator area though, are you sure there isn't a tiny weep there somewhere. (you'd be surprised how even the tiniest weep can cause problems) weeps tend to happen when the CH is cold, when warm all the pipes expand and tend to seal any weeps so if this problem has only occured over summer with the heating off...

Thank you.

I may just replace the radiator like for like as a precaution.

The darker shade of grey colour appears on the pipe clip too, is this damp?

Don't go doing that, if there is a weep it'll more likely be one of the compression joints at the valve or into the rad. aeromech3, makes a fair point about the pipe clip, maybe summat amiss there ?
