PVC Porch

Post by Beav »

Hi there,

my grandparents seem to have been dealing with some crooks unfortunately.

They've had the front porch fitted by some door to door sales company (under 12 months ago). The door now doesn't seem to close properly, is there anything a DIY'er could possibly fix that comes to mind? (Please see attached photos).

They have attempted to call them 4x without an answer. They actually called today to try and push more sales but when they mentioned the door they said a sales person is in the area and will call at set time (surprise surprise they didn't turn up). Originally when the deposit was paid for the work it took them months to come out and actually do it (ignoring phone calls as well then).

Chances sre the hinges just need adjusting. If the installers don't get back to you there are plenty of you tube videos on how to DIY it (Different types of hinges though) also there are plenty of "Upvc doctors" who will sort it (google Upvc doctor in I live here). Alternatively it might need "toeing and heeling" not generally a DIY job.

Worst case scenario (a job I was called out to a few years ago) I tried adjusting the hinges, the keeps and then the toe and heel thing only to find that the conservatory was suffering subsidence. the whole upvc frame was sagging...
