Patio door lock keeps jamming

Post by apacheDIYman »

I have this type of Patio lock (see image) with black levers on both sides.

Recently the black lever keeps jamming, I noted a snib pin looking thing on the door lock style that keeps popping out. When I press it, the black levers work again but the minute I move them too high up the pin pops out again and it jams. How do I stop this pin doing that?

Sounds like lifting the lever up engages the lock which is normal on my doors then the key can work.

I have no idea how old your patio door is, but it sounds like the lock mechanism is old and has failed. What I would do is take some photos of the door mechanism, for example how many rollers cams or hooks there are and then send the pictures to UPVC spares 4 repairs, they have been very helpful to me in the past and a new locking mechanism will cost you from between £40 up to probably £100 and maybe less than that if only a single part needs replacing .
