Which is the right circular saw blade to cut resin worktop??

Post by pjontheroadagain »

Could anyone help me identify the best circular saw blade to cut a 3cm-thick resin worktop, please?

I’ve never done this before but have been told I need a tungsten carbide-tipped blade with as many teeth as possible. However, I’m a bit baffled by the choice!

Also, because this will be a one-off job, I don’t want to spend a lot!

Here are some of the blades I found:

Thanks

None of the above, they are for wood, resin is the binding agent for many types of stone hard materials that only a diamond blade will cut; most diamond blades are for angle grinders; a quick web search did not show up any 165 with 20mm spindle drive, perhaps others can recommend!
Best you stipulate what type of resin top you have?

Thanks guys - would you know how I might identify what type of resin my worktop is made from?

Also, do you know if there are specialists able to cut the worktop for me if I took it to them?

Have you not asked where the worktop came from what it is made of? as for specialists, yes, but why not ask where the worktop came from?
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

The worktop was already fitted when I moved in - and I'm not in touch with the previous owners!

I have a mini circular saw which came with wet bulb and takes the standard angle grinder size 4.5" blades for cutting tiles etc.
However most machines do not have a retracting blade guard which makes them high risk. Better machines have a strong sole plate.
Also watch for the blade bore size, some are 10mm which is not so common as 22.23mm arbor more common

i fitted minerva worktops a while back which is a resin product.

you cut that with standard saw blades and router cutters. you sand it with standard sanding discs

basically you just have to use ideally a track saw with a 48t blade.

there may well be specific festool blades for it but the standard 48t blade worked well.

you need to use dust extraction. the dust is not the nicest like.

also cut it in passes of say 2 or 3mm at a time. so it is a bit time taking.
