New french door leaking a LOT of sound.

Just had it fitted, 180cm wide, 1 french door, 1 single pane and small window combination, double glazed.

Expanding foam was used between the brick and frame, externally trim and silicone were then added around the frame, i cant see where sound would escape that way.

Internally there is a small gap between some plasterboard and the outside of the frame, mostly filled with expanding foam, the internal silicone + plastic trim hasent been done yet but i cant see that making much difference?

Im so frustrated and dissapointed with it, ive had a window changed for these doors and im shocked at how bad the soundproofing is, i cant feel any obvious draughts either.

Door people have no interest as they have done their job (apart from the internal silicone around the frame).

Has anyone had anything similar happen? I can hear a conversation through these double glazed doors and im frankly devastated.

Hi, pictures of what though? There are no visible gaps anywhere apart from the corners of the french door on the locking mechanism side, maybe 2mm gap in the top right and bottom right corner, the locking mechanism wont pull the door any tighter even after turning the locking lugs in towards the seal.

Could this be where the sound is leaking from?

I can put a bank card between the seal and door very easily on the top and top right of the door, this likely to be the issue?

Gap between door seal and frame.

Could this gap let a lot of noise out? There is about 30cm in total length of this gap around the door perimeter.

A photo of your hinges will help , depending on the type of hinge it’s possible to adjust the compression of the door against the frame thus reducing the noise.

I can get one soon, im sure they are adjustable though.

However doesent that only adjust the compression of that side and not the locking side?

So ive just been out and there is also a 1 - 2 mm gap between the EXTERIOR weather stripping and frame too, so not only is the internal side not sealing well at some points, the exterior isent flush against the frame.

Im going to argue the case with the window fitting company, however if i get nowhere (havent been the easiest people to deal with) is there a way i could fit thicker weatherstripping on the exterior side to help reduce noise and so on? Is this a viable option or is there anything else additionally i could fit?
