Hisense 50A6 won't connnect to the Internnet.
Hi,
We've just bought an Hisense 50A6KTUK TV. I've spent hours trying to connect to the Internet by Wi-Fi. We have parted company with Virgin Media and are now with BT. We're paying an extra £5 per month for the BT disc which guarantees signal strength. The TV is working fine but we can't access Freview or YouTube. Netflix app is on the BT home page and we can watch this but BT don't show either Freview or YouTube apps; I've tried three times with BT to sort this out but without success hence we've bought the New Hisense.
I can get as far as needing a password but don't know the password needed;
This is as far as I can get; I don't know how to add or to reset this password
Until I clear this there's a lock on Wi-Fi?
The picture is fine; BT doesn't include Freeview or YouTube apps; we're Premium YouTube users so want YouTube.
This is the BT disk guaranteeing Wi-Fi signal strength sorry about picture quality.
This is the BT hub.
I need to get past this password then I think I'll be OK; I've tried BT password and BT hub password without luck plus lots of other passwords. The user manual isn't any help.
Any suggestions will be very appreciated. I'm a 76 year old dinosaur not up to speed with all this modern electronic kit.
Kind regards, Colin.

Should be the BT Hub password. It will be case sensitive.

Just saying, as its a BT hub the password (Unless you changed it) will be on a little "card" on the back of the hub. It is on a piece of plastic that slides out

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Hi,
Many thanks for your speedy replies wino~o & S-E very much appreciated. I'm currently resetting to factory default on the TV and also the BT hub to start from scratch. I've got the Hub password and realize it's case sensitive but a good reminder wine~o.
I'll kick it around a bit more but at the moment I've lost both picture on TV and CCTV; what fun I'm having. Cables like a birds nest.
Kind regards, Colin.

Retired, It might even be a fault with the TV, Hisense are not the best brand around. It wouldn't surprise me if they forgot to install the wi-fi module/card at the factory.

Hi,
Many thanks again wine~o & S-E; TV now fully up and running like a good un. I'd used the BT hub password but it didn't work so the problem was elsewhere; this evening though having it confirmed to use the BT hub password things went well; I reset the Hub and TV back to factory default and started from scratch. The CCTV was also connected but through a splitter involving three cables; I dumped the splitter and a cable; the new TV accepted both TV & CCTV cables directly. I took my time ensuring I didn't make a mistake during set up and now at last I've a big smile on my face; it's been hugely frustrating for the last three days.
I'm sure a kid would quickly set up a TV these days because they are brought up with electronics unlike me who is more used to steam.
Kind regards, Colin.

Have you pulled the sliding plastic plate on the back of the router that has the passwords you need? It will have the BT Network Name and Password.

Hi,
Thanks for asking DWD. I didn't need to pull the card on the hub; the password needed was already in clear view; I'd already tried the password without success then thought it must be another password I needed. What I did come across was to reset both the TV and the BT hub; I'd been resetting only one so by doing this it's possible I had got one fighting the other. S-E's and wine~o's confirmation regarding using the hub password finally did the trick; I reset the lot and started over being very careful to enter the password correctly so I'm delighted to have the TV fully sorted out. The user manual wasn't any help at all.
Kind regards, Colin.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome, most folk just disappear.
A suggestion if I may. Write the password down, AND what it's for, as today you will think why would I want to do that, but next year, or next TV you will be grateful you did write it down. The hard part will be remembering where you have put it. I admit I have a long list of passwords (no two device brands have the same password) I keep mine on an encrypted excel sheet.

oh, a question for you if you do not mind. You have the BT discs. I presume they have a power supply on a plug (wall wart) and all you do is plug that in, and hey presto your wi-fi is extended?
