Help !! Is this asbestos around my gas pipe?

Hi all,

Can you please help me to try to identify if this pipe, leading from my gas meter through a room in my cellar, is asbestos wrapped? It is very difficult to see from the photos as it has been painted several times in the past but any help would be greatly appreciated !!

It might be, it might not be, can't tell from a picture.
But even if it is, asbestos is harmless unless you digest it, or break it, and as it's sitting there doing nothing, I wouldn't worry about it.
The only definitive way to know is get a sample testing kit, take a sample and send off the kit (with sample)

Does it have a sticky, greasy feel?

Looks like Denso tape to me to protect the pipe from corrosion
