Strange it is a Labour controlled council I thought that Labour was all for supporting the oppressed workers against the wicked Tories.

its been a labour controlled council for forever.

lots of mines and the like around here. or atleast there was once upon a time

a while back (2 years) i worked for a retired miner and it was the height of expensive fuel. He asked me if i knew who he blamed for the cost of fuel at the time. so i said no?? who?? he said thatcher.

canny mad it was her fault even though shed been hoyin daisys up for nearly 10 years by that point like...

thing is.... you could litterally resurect maggie thatcher and put her up as the labour candidate for south shields and that bloke would vote for her  because anything is better than voting for those tory bastards

now thats basically how a lot of the locals see it. and there will never ever be a tory in charge in south shields. usually they gain a few hundred votes at best

i spoke to one of the bin men yesterday at the nook where i live. they are moving the strikers around the town now after spending a fair while making loads of noise on the town hall steps.

i asked him what the craic was. he told me one of the reasons is that theyd found an elderly woman at the side of a road. obvious signs of dementia. rang their bosses to ask what to do. The answer was to leave the person at the road side and carry on with work

another was that theyd taken a residents bins out. they got threatened with disciplinary procedures for trespass after the resident rang the council to commend them for helping her

disciplinaries for taking too long getting bottles of water in the height of summer

threats of the sack regularly.

expected to finish the routes in the same time despite routes getting longer and longer due to more housing estates being built

theres a few weird old stories with south tyneside council like. a while back they spent a fortune arguing with twitter about something daft too .

It is a sniff of what a Labour Government will be like. It was on a much bigger scale in 1979 with the Winter of Discontent and Callaghan's Labour Government. Mark my words it will happen again, Green issues will be the killer this time.

the council went and dropped off standard builders skips in various areas. within minutes they were overflowing with bags dumped beside them  that wasnt a tough prediction to make either
