Revamp solid wood worktops.

I looking for advise on whats the best way to revamp my kitchen worktops, I think they are solid Maple block, what I need to know is whats the best way of sanding them? & what oil should I use after sanding is complete.

There are mainly two methods of sanding one goes by the name of elbow power and the second is mechanical sanding. If you go down the rout of a mechanical sander then a DA sander is the better option as no marks are left by the sander. A oil finish is danish oil.

Many thanks for your reply Ellie, I was going to have a go with a belt sander but thought it might be too fierce.........which is now the case.

You want locking up and the key thrown away for just thinking of using a belt sander. Treat your self to a D A sander as shown and sand first with 100 grit paper then 180 grit and denib between coats by hand using 320 grit silicon carbide sanding paper. And don’t forget to only sand with the grain.
