Intermediate light switch wiring help
I have a problem where I have three switches controlling one light but one of the switches has to be in the same position all the time for the other two too work, I have taken the intermediate switch off to have a look and there was a wire not connected , I’m loath to put this back in though without checking first as when I tried to put it back in the empty space on the switch it blew the circuit breaker…. Could this just be as the wire was live, as in I stupidly didn’t turn the power off first ??
All the wires in the switch have brown sleeving on them, the one that wasn’t connected also has brown sleeving on it
The not connected wire is always live as are 2 of the other wires that are connected, with only one of the grey wires live when the switch is on and dead when off.
There are 2 live wires together in a choc block……is it just a case of popping the wire back into the empty terminal, seems strange when everything is live bar one cable … is this normal?.....PS i put the Wago on the live wire for safety just now
