younguns on electric scooters/bikes etc

as a follow on to the pubs thread where drugs were mentioned.

when i got finished graft todayabout 5:30pm so its starting to get dark... i jumped in the van to take the youngun home. left the housing estate im working on a house at and away. very soon came up against a youngun on a e scooter. no lights. all in black with a black mask.... could barely see him at all in the headlights of the car behind...

got to the younguns house dropped him off and pulled off. just down the road here is 10 or so of those really noisy off road bike things. only a few with headlights either on or even actually fitted..... all in dark clothing. again difficutl to see them clearly due to the car behind thems headlights.....

and shortly after that an idiot on an e bike doing some speed again all in black. again no lights or anything and again really difficult to see until your right on top of them.

the speed those things do catches ya out aswell.

only a matter of time before there is multiple deaths from these stupid things.

I thought they are illegal on the UK highway? I guess it depends on where you look and were they bikes or scooters, no not being pedantic, i found 1 thing says they are legal, another says they are not.

dunno what its like owa your neck of the woods like. but up here in south shields they are all over the place. they seem to come out as soon as it starts getting dark. absolute little divvys with all black clothes and masks covering all but their eyes quite often or even full on balaclavas with eye holes cut out. often no lights on the bikes.

guarantee no insurance or anything like that.

actually yesterday i saw one particular knacker driving up the main road into south shields which is a 40 mph dual carriageway and he was basically pulling a wheelie....

loads of cars behind him too. guarantee anyone hitting him would be dealt with sternly if there was anything at all wrong with their insurance or tax or whatever even if they were simply driving from place to place.

The police are getting lazy. Car owners are an easy mark as the car is easily traced and fixed penalty notices can be sent out for many motoring offences. The numptys on illegal electric bikes, scooters etc have to be caught, interviewed then summonsed to court, all of which takes up a lot of police time, so they don't bother.

we had a young lad playing football with us a while back. he was spotted on these bikes a few times being a little d*ck. hes got a lass now and a decent job so i tihnk his brains kicked into gear.

In some cases maybe but in others there are just too few police officers and far too much call on their time. And we're now in a place where the cops are blamed for chasing some scroat on a bike who falls off and gets injured or worse.

The other week there was someone on an e-bike pulling a wheelie along the A65 south of Otley for 200+ yards, all dressed in black and masked. Not really a scroat-infected area.

I was out walking my Son's dog whilst they away on Hols and regular route on the pathway just passing the empty Junior school, the extending dog lead was about 4mtrs out ,as Lulu knows the way, all of a sudden an electric scooter passed me at about 20mph, from behind, had my 74 year old legs swayed a bit or Lulu nearer the curb he would have been into the road and likely into the back of a parked car; he looked back with a snigger.
Our feeble Gov should ban the sale.

The police must know about this issue but I have never heard of any prosecutions in our area. Visiting Liverpool One yesterday the problem there is even worse, with food delivery bikes and no sign of a single police foot patrol. Have they given up?

wouldnt mind betting those same food delivery people are drug runners also....
