internal door opening kit

Post by bgatty68 »

I hope someone can advise me.
I have an opening 1755mm wide by 2025mm that at present has my old patio doors in it ( we have had an extension built so now this doorway is internal) and i would like to put two internal doors in there, the type that are for sale in B&Q and wickes where you buy them as a kit, with two doors and the end panels that are screwed to the wall but these are too wide for my opening ( i think they are 1850mm wide) so any advise where to buy a bigger range of kits or should i buy it all individually from a builders merchant   plus im not sure about the framework and what type of wood it should be , how thick it should be as the kits provide all this in well you know idiot proof.
lots of questions but i hope someone can help :thumbright:

Is this the type of thing your want to achieve? It shows a bespoke oak room divider which I designed and made for a client last year. But I am sure you would be able to something like it from standard parts available from the big sheds. You don’t after rely on kits you just need to put your thinking head on and start with what standard door are available. Divide each of these sizes by the gap you are trying to fill and see what best fits. And don’t forget you can mix and match the sizes to suit.

Metric Standard doors sizes are 526mm, 626mm, 726mm, 826mm, 926mm

Imperial Standard door sizes (in mm) 533mm, 610mm, 686mm, 711mm, 762mm, 813mm, 838mm, 863mm, 914mm.

Well I think these are the standard sizes but I am sure some member will correct me if I am wrong.
