Hi Everyone, is there any water-based gloss I can paint over oil-based gloss that does not require some primer? I have a lot of glossing to do but I don't really want to use oil-based gloss because of the smell and drying time. what do all you professional painters recommend?
Cheers
Chris

Look at Johnstones Aqua system. Rub down the existing gloss with soapy water with wet and dry or a Scotch pad and wipe dry. Use Aqua undercoat which is wonderful. I use the Aqua gloss which is hybrid but gives a lovely tough finish once cured. Use mini rollers to work quick as it goes off fast. This system allows you to do a lot quickly.

Yes, as long as you remove any grease and silicones using soap water (dilute fairy liquid). The scotch pad or wet and dry just gives a slight key and removes any nibs. The Aqua undercoat goes on a treat and provides a lovely surface for the top coats. The Aqua gloss is a half gloss which is better suited to today's taste. This paint is a hybrid in that you need white spirit to clean. The paint is low odour goes off quick to touch and gets real hard in a few days. I use chuck away mini rollers and brushes. These mini rollers are best I find https://www.screwfix.com/p/harris-trade ... pack/5389x
