Hello, I've had a damp patch in my ceiling for around 2 months. It's in the en-suite without a window which isn't very well ventilated so I assumed it was damp from showering so I've stopped using a couple of weeks after noticing but a month and a half later the damp patch is a bit better, but still there. It's got worse near the wall.
I live on the ground floor of a block of flats and upstairs also has a bathroom in the same place so I'm wondering whether the cause may be due to their pipes upstairs as after a month it still hasn't dried out. Bits have got better but near the wall there's mould that grows back every few days which wasn't the case before, though it does wipe away, and blistering. Could it be a slow leak from upstairs, and if so how would I know, as I don't think I can get upstairs ripping out their floor on a hunch. Basically, I'm stuck on what to do next at this point!
Let me know your thoughts from the photo, whether it's due to ventilation or a leak from a pipe.
Thank you so much for your help!

Cause of damp in ceiling
I would suspect a leak from above. Damp from steam moisture is more like black dots in patches. Are you able to talk to the neighbour above to check out? This could be an insurance issue.

Cause of damp in ceiling
Not in a flat but our damp patch gradually got worse leading to the artex cracking and letting water in from a leak in the roof. Must be a leak somewhere above
