filling in gaps between worktops
Hi all,
We have had some kitchen worktops installed but we have been left with almost half centimetre gaps between the worktops which i twice filled in with some worktop sealant called colourfill but it keeps cracking and comes loose.
The wife said not to use silicone as it gets dirty so can someone else suggest anything please
Kind regards Mark

there shouldn't be gaps between the worktops. get the fitters back at their expense to rectify the shoddy work.

this stuff might work but it certainly sounds like whoever has fitted the worktops has massively ballsed up

Sadly this is a bad job that leaves you with a mess to sort. Colorfil is only meant as a thin crack filler to neaten a joint not such a wide gap as you have. A get around is that the gap must be filled nearly to the top with a firm sealer and then a thin skin of Colorfil on top to disguise it. I think an epoxy resin would work I bought a pack like this from Poundland https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61x ... SX679_.jpg but Amazon do them. Tape either side to avoid any resin messing up the work surface. Leave less tan a millimeter below the surface and once the resin is hardened go over with Colorfil. An afterthought is to tape the bottom of the gap first or stuff a strip of card in to hold the resin up while it sets.

A picture could help here. Also what sort of worktops are they ? There's an old adage that says if you can't hide a joint make a feature of it so it might be possible to insert something of a contrasting colour for instance or is it possible to release one worktop and shuffle it over to close the gap?
