I'm just after a little advice please.
A few years ago we stripped a paper border off a wall and painted the whole wall. We thought we had gotten all of the residue off, but after a year or so, the paint started cracking where the border was.
I've had a bit of a look into resolving it and one option seems to be using Zinsser Gardz.
I was planning on scraping any loose paint off the walls, giving it a sand and then putting some Gardz on it before re-painting. My questions are:
- Is this the best way of going about it? Or is there something that would be better suited?
- Would a scrape and sand be enough in terms of prep?
- Will it be sufficient to put the Gardz just on the affected area. Or will this affect the finish if painted over?
- Is it worth putting an overall primer/undercoa over the whole wall before the top coat?
Thanks in advance!
