My daughter suggested this to us . We did watch it all , only seven half hour episodes so not too bad. An interesting story and perhaps worth watching although to be honest we found it difficult to have much empathy with the main character who seemed to bring his troubles on himself. Even when he eventually went to the police he didn't help hi.self , withholding details and at one point ending up being interviewed under caution . All based evidently on a true story and it is perhps worth a look. Maybe it appeals to the younger generation as my daughter and boyfriend enjoyed it

We may give it another go. I was reading in my paper the original woman on whom it is based is suing Richard Gadd who wrote and stars in it. I think it was too close to the truth for her

I see that awful fix of a show the Eurovision Song Contest is on this week, we have not watched it since Sandy Shaw won. It is so political in its voting that it has never had any relationship to the mostly dire music and acts having talent and a good song. The only good thing about it is it gives the BBC a cheap Saturday night, nothing for us. Total rubbish.

Perhaps they should rename it "Europe's not got talent" . MrsG likes to watch it so I'll probably end up seeing some of it at least. Occasional not too bad a song and sometimes something half decent to look at but overall pretty forgettable..

We started out watching a new film on Netflix called Mother of the Bride, it is a romcom that usually turn out to be lightly entertaining. This starred caterpillar eyebrows Brook Shields and it started okay but descended into a rather boring mix of predictable scenes, we binned it. Do not bother.

When I saw you'd made a new post in this thread I thought to myself "that'll be about that Fortune Hotel that started last night" . Well seems I was wrong about your post but not wrong about the programme I personally feel...

 It did not make it past the initial look at the synopsis. It struck us as another load of guff, it is the sort of stuff designed to appeal to those looking to be part of a get-rich-quick lifestyle that many believe they deserve these days without working for it. I normally like Stephen Mangan as an actor even though he is the same in every role. He obviously studied at the Ray Winstone Acting Academy. It comes under my classification LOS....Load of Shite

It was mrsG's idea to watch it but after a little while I noticed she wasn't paying it any attention and was playing with her phone. I asked her what she thought of it and she wasn't particularly impressed. I gave it up after a half an hour , my wife stuck it out to see if it improved but didn't think it did. Agreed with your comments about Stephen Mangan.

We had a look at a new C4 series The Gathering. It started off quite promising with someone being deliberately drowned at an illegal Rave on a beach. It soon descended into teenage tosh, we lasted about 10 minutes and binned it, utter rubbish.

I had seen a listing for a film on C5 called The Body in the Attic. The story synopsis says a woman hides her lover in her attic but he is killed and her husband is suspected. We recorded it and started to have a look last night. Dumped in 10 minutes it was a stupid gushy b*llocks of a film. Don't bother.

Before it is even on BBC tonight this awful virtue-signaling guff should be dismissed immediately. Lost Boy and Fairies is enough of a title to put you off, a rerun of Crap in the Attic would be more acceptable viewing. To think I have to pay £170 for this shite.

I have not had much interest in the Euros football competition. I find football so dull these days and rarely watch a game even though I played myself into my 60s. When you see footage of old games with the likes of Georgie Best and his peers it was exciting, not now. I have watched both England games and they were so boring passing the ball back and forth to keep possession and an occasional attack thwarted by defenders who could see it coming. The trouble is many people believe all the hype that is churned out rather than actually assessing performance for themselves. It will be a miracle if England gets to the final if they continue to play in such a boring fashion.

I stopped watching football yonks ago after I got fed up with the boredom and cheating by the so-called “professional” players. Too much crying and rolling around in the floor after being blown over by a puff of wind. I don’t begrudge the players their large salaries, because that’s market forces at work, but I do begrudge all the misplaced and pathetic hype by the media and a large portion of the population that our national team is any good. I can’t remember where I saw or read it but someone who was very successful said words to the effect of “Whenever a team isn’t succeeding, the fault is always having the wrong person in charge…” and I think that’s true. Mind you, being the manager of a team of juvenile prima donnas must be so difficult that no decent leader would want the job. It’s all very well for people like Alan Shearer to criticise the team but he seems to forget the team didn’t win anything when he played either. I remember going to see a few Millwall and Crystal Palace matches back in the 70s and it was pocket money to get in and there was plenty of action on the pitch to make it an exciting day out, plus I learned a few new swear words at Millwall! These days, my mind boggles to see grown men paying a small fortune to watch 90 minutes of blokes jogging up and down a pitch, with only a couple of minutes at most of excitement. If the fans voted with their feet and refused to go to any matches from the start of next season, the clubs and players would soon sort themselves out and start giving value for money.

Yes, the men's game is boring but the hype that is given to Womens football is absurd. It is almost like if you batter someone around the head with a fish they will begin to like fishing. However I understand that women score more goals so that might be the reason, it is just hope for the masses.
