Should I do anything to these gaps behind skirting?

I’m replacing the skirting in our living room. When I removed the old skirting there are larger than normal gaps between the floorboards and the plaster. I know they are required for ventilation but is there any issue to adding another layer of plaster, whilst maintaining a gap?

Skirting boards are nothing to do with ventilation, they are there as the plasterers don't go to the floor, if they did the plaster would crack as the floor is walked on. Also it's for when you move a heavy chair and put it down, the skirting board stops the chair legs damaging the plaster.

I meant the gaps behind the skirting and that lead underneath the floorboards are there for ventilation no? There are three air bricks along the front of one of the walls that allows air into the property from outside for ventilation

Fill with bonding coat or any other filer.
