downlights and 2 socket outlets from a spur.

Post by diysos101 »

HI,
I currently have a spur from a ring circuit going to a double socket next to a now open fire hole. The chimmney is closed but I have opened it up to make a decorative only fireplace. I would like to line the hole with board and add a socket at the rear for an electric fire, and a pair of down lighters from the top. I would quite like to keep a socket on the wall as well. I am aware I need to add a fused switch fcu 13A to the spur first. Then I know I can add the two sockets, one for fire and one on wall. I don't know how I can or if I can add the down lighters somehow? How would i do this? I was thinking of using 230V down lighters so without a transformer. Little diagrams of current question and proposed to help attached.

Plug the lights in to the socket, much easier.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I used LAP grid system, a double socket box will take 4 slots, so a 13 amp socket and two fuse holders will fit. I used LAP (Screwfix) as they do sockets for their grid switches.
