Hi,
I'm renovating a small house and have added insulation to all the walls for soundproofing and better thermal performance. The stair wall now sticks out as much as the existing skirting board (when I plasterboarded it I profiled it to the skirting). It looks like this - any idea of how best to neatly fit new skirting?
Thanks
Rachel

Skirting board on stairs
The insulation means that you have a thicker wall section covering the stair stringer. Now the issue with this is the same as all stair stringers in that the constant use of the stairs causes movement and any filler will crack leaving a join line. I would be inclined to glue on a thin section of PVC strip to cover the joint line. This is only glued to the wall overlapping the stringer to allow the stairs to move slightly without any cracking as it is covered. Something like this https://www.directplastics.com/upvc-tri ... te/GEF020W Come back if you need a further explanation.
