Hi all,
I have an older AEG electric stove with an oven and a ceramic cook top in one unit. It takes 3 lives to hardwire it, and one of the live wires, if connected, trips the circuit breaker instantly. Now only 2 cooking zones (the 2 on the left) work instead of 4 because the 3rd wire that trips is for the 2 hobs on the right.
I've opened the cooktop up just to take a look, and the residual heat indicator unit is clearly toast, basically burnt. Could that toast indicator cause a short that trips the circuit breaker only when the right side hobs are connected, or it wouldn't do that regardless of its status? Could disconnecting this indicator cause any further issues or can I just try disconnecting it to see if it works?
I can order the replacement part but if that has no chance of fixing the issue I'd rather just buy a new stove.
Thanks for the help,
Tibberc

Sorry but as it uses electricity does not mean its a query for an electrician, a bit like asking a plumber to look at a washing machine (well, it uses water) what you need is somewhere that deals with white goods all day long, to that amends go and have a look at the white goods forum Click me

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Cookers designed for other countries are often designed for split and three phase, this does not mean they can't be used on single phase, but it means errors can be made, so may be better to post a picture.
