In 2017 the BBC axed Crimewatch citing declining viewers, the final year showed 3m against a high of 8m viewers. Of course today they would be ecstatic for a show to hit 3m. I was reminded of this show while half-listening to Mrs D watching one of her Crime Channel bores where Crimewatch played a part in trapping a killer. Crimewatch gave the Police valuable clues and leads to solving crimes and the public were active in their support. What went wrong then? The declining viewers might have been due the dissatisfaction of seeing Nick Ross replaced by that insufferable prick Jeremy Vine, and the exodus by many to streaming services for entertainment. I suspect that there was also another factor in that the majority of the criminals appeared to be either black or eastern European and I am sure that did not sit right with the BBC's inclusivity agenda brainwashing.
The fact is that a program of this type is a valuable tool in the fight against crime and the fairly useless Police need all the help they can get these days.

Crimewatch
Crimewatch is still going, it's on daytime TV on BBC. They run a 2 weekly dayily schedule every few months
Agree with you about that tw@t Jeremy Vine though.
Still the same mix of criminals though, which blows that point right out of the water.dewaltdisney wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 9:25 am I suspect that there was also another factor in that the majority of the criminals appeared to be either black or eastern European and I am sure that did not sit right with the BBC's inclusivity agenda brainwashing

Crimewatch
I would never see it as I never have the TV on in the day, I doubt many others do either just the unemployed and the elderly maybe. On a pedantic point, I was talking of the original Crimewatch not Crimewatch Live which I did not know existed. My point on the inclusivity agenda was tongue in cheek. The original style of show should be on at peak viewing time to get results, sans Vine. I try to generate posts.

Crimewatch
I remember the days of Police 5 waiting for Sunday dinner and the Smurfs to start - it's an online world these days every thing is instant people get ID'd and located very quickly
