Weird instruction.
Fitted a downflow heater in the bathroom and when reading the installation instructions I read something that doesn't make sense:
"Do not install directly underneath a socket"
Anyone have any insight on this? I could understand not installing above a socket, as you would be blowing very hot air onto it, but why not below?

Imported tat. Unless you have a huge bathroom, 13A sockets are not permitted in UK bathrooms

I can't imagine any heat, at least nothing significant getting above it, it blows it all away and even has a cool down cycle.

..................but an electric shower is enclosed and has no access to any live parts from outside
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.
Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Speaking like a tool
BS7671 says no - it’s that simple AND it’s not about live parts it’s to stop the stupid plugging in appliances and killing themselves

No need for that kind of rudeness, it's a legitimate question in a forum for discussion.
And yes yes I know that the law is written for lowest common denominator these days, common sense and taking responsibility for your own safety is not allowed.

Why even question it?
The only muppets who install sockets in UK bathrooms are foreign so called sparks who don’t recognise or understand uk electrical regulations
