Changing double socket from recessed to wall mounted

Post by Steve G »

Hi,

As part of a project due to wanting to use decorative slats on a wall this means that two double sockets I have will be too far back on the wall probably to be used. Ideally I would like to change the socket from recessed and flat to the wall as they are now to wall mounted which will give me more depth.

Is this possible using the same location they are in now? How could this be achieved as I'm sure I will need to extend the wiring.

Alternatively I was going to build a built in unit which will hide the sockets (accessible from cupboard doors) but I'm sure sockets are not allowed to be hidden?

Many Thanks

As long as the plug is in free air, or forced ventilation, as the fuse needs cooling. So in this case it is OK, but not 100% of the time.
