Downstairs Mains RCBO Tripping
Today I replaced the outside PIR sensor the floodlights that are on the front of our house.
I believed it was defective because the floodlights were staying on when the 2 gang switch was set to sensor.
The issue actually persists.
After completing this job the downstairs mains sockets RCBO keeps tripping. I have unplugged all the downstairs appliances.
The floodlights are on the 'Outside Lights' circuit. I thought it was a coincidence and unrelated as the downstairs mains ring is on a RCBO on the high integrity part of the consumer unit.
Any suggestions before I call an electrician?

Why do you say that?
If nothing tripped before you changed the lights, and now something does trip after you changed the lights, it is very likely something to do with what you have done.
Have you done, moved or checked anything else?

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

I didn't change the flood lights I changed the PIR sensor on the outside wall. The downstairs ring main is on an RCBO on the high integrity section of the consumer unit. The outside lighting is on a MCB. Two completely different circuits.

I would guess some where some one has used a green/yellow wire for some thing which is not earth. And so resulted in the problem, the
if I am reading it correct rings alarm bells, why have a RCBO on the RCD side of the consumer unit, but that may not be what you mean by "high integrity section"? I never did work out why consumer units were called high integrity.Distorted Vision wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 8:07 pm The downstairs ring main is on an RCBO on the high integrity section of the consumer unit.
