We watched the first episode of series two of Hotel Portofino. The first series was on ITV a couple of years ago and it is a mainly gentle series with intrigues set in 1920s Portofino, Italy. The second series has been bouncing around on pay channels but it has finally ended up on a new Sky Channel called U&Drama (143). Written by Matt Baker (One Show) it is quite watchable and hold your attention. Nice location shots help and the period setting is well done. Worth a watch

We watched the first episode of the new series of Yellowstone on Paramount+. This long-awaited second part of series 5 starts with a shocker. It pulls all the story threads together, building up as revenge looms. If you have never seen Yellowstone, try and watch it from series 1 because it is probably one of the best series on TV over the last few years. Certainly not for snowflakes.

We finished Sweatpea, a series on Sky. It was quite enjoyable, and a few bodies stacked up. The story has a cliffhanger ending, obviously left open for a second series. Overall, it was quite enjoyable.

I forgot to mention a new series on Paramount+ called Landman. if you read the synopsis you would not bother but the fact that it is a Taylor Sheridan series I watched the first episode. It stars Billy Bob Thornton as a fixer for oil companies. It starts off really well with a number of story threads and a couple of spectacular scenes. It's well worth a watch.

I used to enjoy the Mallorca Files which was on ITV (I think) we watched 2 series. I was pleased to see a third series listed on Amazon Prime. We enjoy it as there are lots of familiar locations on Mallorca an island we are very familiar with. It revolves around an English female detective and a German detective both of whom work for the Spanish Police in Palma. Th e first episode of series 3 was most enjoyable.

We watched the first episode of Moonflower Murders on BBC. We did not get on with the first series called Magpie Murders which was a bit daft so we gave this a chance and it seemed to be much better and we enjoyed the first episode. We will see how it goes.

We’ll be watching the Moonflower murders as we did like the Magpie murders . Watched the Mallorca Files too and thought it was ok , watchable but nothing special . Certainly not worth getting Amazon for . I thought it was on the BBC but it has been repeated recently on one of the channels on sky ( alibi or Dave perhaps?) .suppose the new series will get there at some point.
Won’t be watching anything new for a little while as MrsG is watching the jungle crap which at least means she goes into another room to watch it and I’m left with the tv so can watch stuff I’ve recorded . I’ve just started watching Heligoland 513 a post apocalyptic series . It’s in German and the wife isn’t fond of subtitles which is another reason it’s been waiting some time . Interesting so far , two episodes in , although there’s a fair bit to be explained as yet . I’ll stick with it for now .

I am sure the Mallorca Files were first shown as some afternoon pap, but it was certainly not on prime time. Yes, it is a bit lame, but that does not matter, as the settings in Mallorca are enough for us to watch. I quite like the leads too, who seem to make it work, and it avoids absurd woke themes in the main. We pay the Amazon Prime charge to get free next day deliveries on purchases and the video channel is thrown in. Last year we were ahead of the game as the postage cost saved was way ahead of the charge. We tend to buy a lot from Amazon, it is cheap and comes next day. If you equate this with making a trip in a car to buy from a shop (if you can even find what you want) the petrol and parking easily exceed the charge over a year.

Yeah I seem to remember watching it around teatime Ona Saturday. I suppose you could say it’s lame but it’s in the same vein as Death in Paradise , nice settings but no graphic violence or bad language and an easy enough plot to follow. Easy to watch and not offensive

We watched the first episode of the new Return to Paradise that started on BBC last night. It is a spin-off of Death in Paradise (which became annoying and we dumped it) but it is set in Australia. It borrows many of the themes from DiP in format, characters, and tick boxes and the lead is a hard character to warm to. Having said that it was quite enjoyable and the setting in a sunny Australian beach community is what you need on a miserable winters night. Very much like the Mallorca Files it is an easy enjoyable watch.
