No cold water

Post by p5aul789 »

Hello,

I have no cold water running from the bathroom basin or bath. The basin tap ran a couple of days ago for a few seconds then came to a trickle and stopped. Now nothing at all coming out.

The kitckin sink cold runs fine.

Any ideas?

There doesn't seem to be a leak anywhere.

Thanks very much.

Do you have a water tank in your loft? Do the toilet cisterns still fill up?

I live in a one bedroom flat, so no loft. The Toilet is not flushing either. I can only put it down to some kind of air lock.

1. If your kitchen cold tap is still running, then you almost certainly still have mains water connected.
2. In which case the cold for the bathroom fittings is likely to be tank fed. It's unusual to get air locks on mains fed supplies.
3. Have a look in airing cupboard / other cupboards and see if there is a hot water cylinder with a small cold water storage cistern above it. If so:
3.1 Make sure the cold cistern is filling.
3.2 If it is, you could have an airlock.
4. If you have a combi boiler, ignore the above.

Sorry for late reply and thanks for all your help. Cold water started running shortly after posting of it's own accord. Haven't a clue why this happened!
