Gogglebox/Frank Skinner

I was reading that Frank Skinner complained that on his recent Celeb Gogglebox appearance a producer was constantly prompting him to make comments about the TV shows they were fed. This was because he and David Baddiel kept digressing from the expected comments and going off on their own slightly related stories. This leads me to believe that the usual Gogglebox non-professional commentators are prompted throughout to say certain things as directed. I suspect some of their comments are edited and only the ones that fit what is wanted survive the final edit. If I was a commentator most of my comments would be edited out

You mean, you have only just realised that?

TV programmes are not as they used to be, it's all about the ratings, so if a "contestant" is not doing as asked/wanted they get poked with a sharp stick.

I stopped watching about 5 years ago after they did a census advert with small print at the bottom. Mixed into regular programme was very sneaky. Now classed as propaganda to me. I fill in the census no problem but wasn't the point

I know what you mean Oz, I get snarky when they go off on lefty crap, just stick to current TV programmes and cut the social commentary crap. We tend to speed over anything like that and only focus on programmes we might have missed that might appeal. some of the commentators are annoying too. We like Giles and Mary.
