Yeah I watched that myself . The title was perhaps a bit redundant as the reason it collapsed was pretty obvious , it was rammed by 100,000 tons of ship travelling at 9knots but the programme did show the excellent response to clear the debris and also the quick action of the police to shut the bridge so quickly and reduce the death toll. It was certainly a decent watch and is probably a good example of cheap telly that is actually good . After all it was pretty much just bits of cctv footage , news footage , a bit of graphics and a few interviewsdewaltdisney wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 9:20 am I watched Why Bridges Collapse: The Baltimore Disaster on BBC. This documentary focuses on the collapse of the Baltimore Harbour Bridge, which was struck by the ship MV Dalia which had lost power. It is interesting how the engineers cleared the debris to reopen the port. The task was incredibly difficult. It is worth a watch.

We watched a new Netflix series about Churchill. The films used have been colourised and AI gas been used for some voice overs. Altogether very well done and despite knowing the history well, it held our attention. Well worth a watch

I watched this and I agree it is very predictable, a mix of all the robot films I have seen.

Watched episode 2 of The Agency and episode 5 of Landman both on Paramount+. The Agency really hots up and the story unfolding is clever and interesting. Landman is a great story too and very gritty. Both are well worth a watch.

I watched Sirius :An Apocalyptic Order that was shown on BBC4 over the last couple of weekends . It told the story of the Order of the Solar Temple, a cult that made the news in1994 when some fifty three members died in an apparent suicide pact . There were further deaths later the same and following year . Although the story had definite parallels to the likes of the Davididions at Waco it perhaps didn’t have as much coverage over here as it occurred in French speaking parts of Switzerland, France and Quebec . It had a depressing familiarity of people coming together but then somewhere along the way being brainwashed into the belief that if they commit suicide they would transit to another place , in this case the planet Sirius . The programme contained interviews with former members one of whom was put on trial although subsequently acuited. Parts of the trial were filmed . There were also interviews with lawyers , judges and the journalists who investigated the affair . The two main leaders of the cult had died in the original pact.
I can’t say I’m any the wiser as to why people enter these cults and proceed as they do to their deaths but the programme was an interesting if not an uplifting one and I felt worth a watch.

Mrs D has been reading Stephen King's The Outsider and was relating bits of the story to me as she read on. It chimed a memory with me, and I realised we had seen a TV version in the past. I had a look and found the series on Sky Atlantic, so we watched the first episode last night. The story runs pretty much to the book so far, and although we saw it in 2020, I had quite forgotten it. However, it is worth a watch if you have Sky.

Spoiler alert. We have just watched the final episode of the new Day of the Jackal series. I have to say that it finished very satisfactorily with the very poor MI6 characters getting killed and one sacked plus the Jackal surviving for series 2. The stupid brother-in-law in Spain got caught in the wrong place and got slotted, which was a bonus. All in, a satisfactory end. I have to say that apart from the MI6 agent it was all well done. Hopefully, they will not repeat these miscasting mistakes in series 2.

We watched it last night . MrsG wanted to watch a film rather than a series and it seemed like one of the better offerings of an otherwise unappealing lot of films on Netflix. I agree it was somewhat formulaic and predictable. A few minutes I I felt it was a rip off of the tv series Humans , even the main characters were similar. Ok the one in Humans was Asian but they were both slim , attractive with long dark hair. That lead us to say later that if they’d made these robots to look like fat ugly munters then none of this would have happened. I suppose it was okish and the least I can say is that it was still better than Will Smith’s god awful version of I Robot…dewaltdisney wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 10:50 pmI watched this and I agree it is very predictable, a mix of all the robot films I have seen.

We watched Wham: Last Christmas Unwrapped on BBC2. It is a documentary about the Wham video for Last Christmas filmed in Switzerland. The cast is reassembled and talks about the filming while visiting the location again. In many ways, it is sad but most enjoyable, well worth a watch.

I forgot to mention above that the only unnecessary bit was having Sam Smith in a comment spot putting his pointless observations in. The fat t*at was born in 1992 so it was of no relevance.

Day of jackel - i was disappointed with the ending, it should have been a one off and not a load of series , to be honest , there are very few series worth watching when they get loads
exceptions for me
west wing
Lincoln lawyer (but 3 maybe enough)
the Secretary
the good wife - lawyer thing
Bosch
The Kominsky Method - (BUT 2 series was enough - stopped in 3rd)
i'm sure there are more
But generally - i just stop watching and get bored quickly

I know what you mean there, I am struggling a bit with Lincoln Lawyer's latest series. I think Bosch struggled a bit when he retired, it did not have the right vibe any longer.
