Plaster crumbling

Post by Dave29 »

Hi

I took some wallpaper down in my son’s room and I that some of the plaster beneath was crumbling. It seems to be a fairly large patch. I looked a bit closer and found that there is nothing between the plaster and the wall. What is the best way of fixing this issue? Any tips or advice would be welcome.

Plaster crumbling

This sort of damage can happen using a steamer, it can pop an area of plaster. Tap and break off any loose plaster spots you can find. If it is bad all over you it might be better to get a plasterer in to skim it all. You can fill spot holes with a multi finish plaster which you lay on in a couple of coats to fill the hole. Wet the area well so the wall does not suck water out of the plaster and make it unworkable. Have a read https://www.buildingmaterials.co.uk/inf ... sh-plaster There are lots of YouTube how to videos on patch plastering.
