Internal door, LOCK not printed on the top
Hi, just about to attempt to fit a new internal door for the first time. I've opened up my budget B&Q door but the word LOCK is not printed on the top of the door. Is there another way to tell which side it is?
Thanks
Thanks

Internal door, LOCK not printed on the top

These doors have a frame made out of 25mm timber covered with two pressed board faces. The lock block is glued both to the frame and faces and usually, the door is marked to show the lock block side. You can detect the hollow side from the lock block with careful tapping, but it is a subtle difference. The lock block side has a lighter sound, while the non-block side has a heavier tone. If you really cannot tell drill a hole in both sides the non block side will go through quickly, you can fill it in after.

looking closely at the picture you can see what appears to be a thicker piece of wood let in where I have indicated with an arrow. I would assume that this would be the lock side, but as DWD says a small test hole drilled through will prove whether or not I'm right.
As an aside I've ringed in red what seems to the word "Howdens" ???

bit late like.... but on howdens doors theres a little hole on the bottom of the door thats always on the side with the lock block.
a while ago i fitted doors from benchmarx and the lock blocks were labeled wrong. that was fun explaining it to the staff at the branch. luckily half of their stock was also labeled up incorrectly
