Hi,
It's been ages since I posted due to Bron becoming seriously ill now at home on palliative care due to throat cancer. This is incredibly cruel it's robbing Bron of her voice volume; she can only wisper and I can't understand what she's trying to tell me; Bron can hear OK but we're reduced to me talking to her and she writes on a notepad in reply which is so frustrating.
I would like to pair my microphone to my AKG headphones on the computer allowing volume control. Both microphone and headphones show connected; I can see the input on the microphone but as yet no output throgh the phones. I'm running Win11 and I also have a laptop on Win10. The headphones are now OK on YouTube videos.
I visited a computer shop yesterday and after 30 minutes of trying the computer guy gave up and what a top guy he is not charging me a penny just wishing us the best of luck. Over the last two weeks I've spent 12 hour days at Bron's side apart from a quick trip home for dinner. This morning I visited Screwfix and bought a door chime; Bron can now wake me during the night; I've been terrified of her trying to get out of bed and falling; the last thing she needs now are broken bones. Bron's been in increfible pain; she suffers Parkinson's; had a complete knee replacement in January and now cancer of her throat plus other problems; now she's robbed of talking to me hence I want to amplify her voice if possible; surely this can be done but every time I try to concentrate; the phone rings or the carers are here again; two carers four times each day.
Sorry to ramble on but this is heartbreaking.
Kind regards, Col.

Pairing microphone to AKG K52 headphones.
Sorry to hear about your situation.
I think if the computer shop guy couldn't get it working it's probably something that will require a reinstall of Windows or tinkering at a low level.
There is another option - if you have a Samsung phone, you can connect wired headphones (wireless if a new phone), and the sound will be amplified if you put on the headphones, and then Bron can talk into the phone.
I can't remember the exact process as I did it last year, and my Mother isn't local. It's described on Samsungs website - https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobi ... y-devices/
Try that and if you have any issues I'll see if I can help.
All the best

Hi Colin, I was so sad to read about Bron, I knew she was not well but I did not know how serious it was. I can understand the speech difficulty and I wonder if this might help https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09GXGVCRD? ... asin_title I have one of these for talks I give and it helps to amplify my voice in a room. I just thought the lightweight headset with the microphone by her mouth would make her soft speech audible. For £25 it might be worth a try.
I do wish you both well, illness can be so cruel.

Hi,
Many thanks for your kindness and useful reply with link Harry001; unfortunately Bron and I don't use mobile phones although I've checked out the link you kindly sent.
Thanks so much DWD; yes as you've known for some time Bron has been unwell and we thank you not only for your good wishes but also for what looks like a simple solution to our problem. I don't use Amazon but I do use eBay a lot and have just bought the item you describe,
I'll update as soon as it arrives. The carers are due for the fourth time today; every day now is very cruel indeed.
Kind regards, Col.

There is a strap included so Bron can hang it around her neck and the sound will project better. The headset is very light and bendy to get the microphone into a compatable position. I do hope it helps

Hi,
Thanks DWD for your additional information; I'll be delighted when the amplifier arrives.
It's been a tearful day again but in spite of everything Bron's at home not stuck somewhere strange where she can't receive the same level of TLC.
This morning I visited Screwfix and bought one of these;
Bron's been banging her hairbrush on the side table in order to get me up during the night; this chime is perfect; so much needed and so little time each day to catch up. The carers have departed but now I'm too tired to do anything.
Thanks again DWD.
Kind regards, Col.
