Mitre Saw /Nail Gun

I would view replacing the skirtings as perhaps an unnecessary job. You would have to do virtually as much painting on the new skirting as refurbishing the existing. If you follow my guide on wet and dry prep and use the Johnstones Aqua and see how you go. I use mop-type mini rollers to get it on quickly and easily, mask up around the skirting and trim accordingly.

You may have saved me some hassle, haha.

Thought as they have yellowed and the old owner's wife used to smoke heavily it would be best to replace them. That way I could upgrade them to some chunkier ones but there's plenty of other work that needs doing, more than adding 2" to the skirting boards.

I bought the KGS254 about ten years ago and rarely use it as I can't get it exactly square. I get one side square but it put the other side out. It was ages after I bout it when I noticed the flaw so I was too lat eto take it back.

Yes to be fair mine did develop a similar problem. I say develop because it was fine to begin with. I found the problem was that the rear fence had started to bend ever so slightly so that putting a straight edge across it it would touch at the outside edges but show a gap in the middle. It also had a tendency to pinch when cutting wider timbers. I "cured" it by the rather Heath Robinson method of folding wedges knocked in behind it

Mitre Saw /Nail Gun

Well been a tad noisy over the past week and came to use the saw today and I reckon the bearings are failing going by the noise it has started to make.. I have had a quick look around the net and pondered if it's worth a repair , probably not in all likelihood especially given the bending fence problem as well and it's getting on a bit too so I might look at replacing it with a makita for example.

Let me know which one you decided on getting. I have the DeWalt DHS780 12" saw. Its a beast if you need to lug it around so I always opt for a smaller saw for most jobs. I've lost faith in the Metabo so need a new smaller one.
