floor tiles

hi guys, this is not my area at all but im laying some floor tiles in my kitchen its 12sm and the question im asking is whats best to lay it with, cause in screwfix they do a floor tile and grout for 14 quid but it says 1.5sm on the front, does that mean i will need about 10 tubs?? that dont seem right to me??? :help:

It depends on how thick you are applying the adhesive.

The 1.5 square metres will be on average.

These combined adhesives and grouts are not as good as a dedicated adhesive and seperate grout.

BAL is a favorite amongst many tilers

If concrete just use Bal rapid set. Don't mixed tooo much at a time.

If on boards...........overply with 12mm ply and then use a flexible cement and grout

thanks guys, can i use the pre mix stuff in a dot and dab formation or will that not work? its going down on concrete. :roll:

Do NOT use premix............its crap and your'll wait a fortnight for it to dry.

Use bagged gear........slow set if your not sure.........but then you can't walk on it for 24hrs

Or rapid set in small amounts.......you can walk on that after 3 hours.


And dot & dab is a no no...............SOLID BED

ya know this bal rapid set.. whats the work time. how much should be mixed at a time? i not used bagged before :scratch: thanks guys

Just mix enough to comfortably use in about 20-25 minutes.

Like I said............if you CAN keep off the area.........then use Bal goldstar. Not rapid setting, so u must keep off of the floor overnight.

So do the job...........and get the wife to take you to the pub :thumbright:
