Own place
I would say find a local kitchen fitter with a Howdens account …..
We've got a Howden's just up the road from us (which is probably the sensible thing to do), this is what we are looking for -

You need to get a couple of quotes and work according to a plan.
It depends if you want to to do some of the work yourself and call traders as and when needed or just give the job to one builder.
You need to think if changes needed to walls and ceilings (may be plastering), if you are keeping same floor, electrics including lights, relocating or new sockets. You also need to decorate, I painted before installing new units, much easier when empty. Re-plumbing if needed.

If you’ve got a Howdens up the road then I would use them.

I've got a quote for £2,200 for 13 units, sounds reasonable to me, any thoughts?

Are they mainly standard base units, wall units and corner units?
How many larder units?
Assume this include plinths, fillers and side panels but not worktops, sink and taps?
Does it include cornices?

it's a bit on the high side if only units, plinths and side panels. Larder units could be at silly high prices. I bought my units from one place but larder from bnq very cheap, won't be noticed if all white.

DIY kitchens every time. Their units are streets ahead of Howdens, BandQ etc.

Standard base units, tall wall units, Zero corner units and zero larders. Includes plinths, fillers and side panels. Correct, not included worktops, sink and tap. Yes includes cornice.

You think it's still on the high side, what should I be aiming for? £1,800?

I don't think I can do business with DIY Kitchens, I like a lot about them, but not getting clear direction from the sales person.

It's your choice. I can only go on my experience with them and their product.

From my experience 6 months ago, it shouldn't be more than £2000 specially without larder or corner units which are pricy than standard units.

Family member installed a DIYK on my advice and the advice of this forum. Very pleased with it and price was was competitive for a much higher quality than any flat pack.

I have fitted DIY and Howdens , Howden will open accounts for u , I did as a lift company !

Recently fitted a Howdens for some one, the backs were poor , just stapled no glued , be careful easy to push the back out which is a Pain. I remembered to late, some years ago on another kitchen I popped them out, glued and nailed before fitt

DIY are thicker but still prone to this to some extent , again I added a few screws to prevent this as I fitted

This is my DIY kitchen , didn’t have any problems with them through the process, for Dekton work top they were by far the cheapest I found.

I have thought about making my own as the quality of most big box companies kitchens are crap. I know the price of dress ply/MDf has gone through the roof and the finish paint job won't be as good but it'll be a lot better built. And I know it will take ages and cost more. I'm still pondering.

Alternatively, I've heard good things about a local company C&C Kitchens in Grangemouth, Falkirk. I'm not sure which part of the world you're in but I think they deliver.
