I was thinking it might be useful, and safer, for me to cut thicker branches at height as even my electric chainsaw with the short blade is bloody heavy as is my reciprocating saw also. The Lidl one, or a cheapo <a href="http://www.ebay.co.uk/" class="skimwords-link" target="_blank" data-skimwords-id="1824897" data-skimwords-word="off%20ebay" data-group-id="0" data-skim-creative="300003" title="Shopping Link Added by SkimWords" occurrence="1" data-skim-node-id="498:ActuallyMike,Ihavebe_1" style="">off eBay</a><span style="position: absolute;"></span><span style="position: absolute;"></span>, might be worth a punt as an experiment. I will let you know how I get on. I am in the middle of doing my Laurels which are over 15' high and grown like mad with the wet summer.

Yes, it is brilliant. There is a separate thread on it you may wish to peruse http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/forum ... 5&t=105075 I have used it a load and on each occasion, I have not run out of power. As there is no oiler I spray the chain every so often whilst checking the chain tension to keep it running sweet. It is just such a useful tool as I take out branches and then cut up the big bits that I do not want to chip. The one I linked to in the other thread is only £19 and quite frankly at that price, I would say get one as I am sure that it will be useful. :thumbright:

Well, I bought the Lidl version of the mini chainsaw and a couple of batteries with a charger but I haven’t had the opportunity yet to give it a good road test.
This guy has done a pretty good review of the saw ( even though it’s in french with subtitles ) and for myself, I wouldn’t cut stuff that’s too thick but it’s nice to see what it can and cannot do.

I actually made a couple of housing joints to repair a garden frame thing for my neigbour. I could not be arsed to do it properly and armed with just a pencil and my mini chainsaw I cut the housings in some 2 by 1 very easily, nice and tight joints. I left him to pin them up. I was amazed at how easy it was. I may try cutting bread next
