took a bit of time like. out of interest today ill quickly try on one of the bits of scrap some kerf cuts and offer that in place and see what it does. but i bet that it snaps when i try to push it into place. once this skirt is painted up i think itll look a nice and neat job.

MDF skirting will bend an alarming amount when it gets wet: I was second fixing blocks of flats a few years back and usually all the materials were loaded out in the flats ready for the job.
I was one length of skirting short on one particular flat so I went outside to get a length. The pile of skirting had been left uncovered outside in the rain, as you almost certainly know they are 5m long, I picked up the top length in the centre, even lifting it as high as possible, neither end left the ground.
I had to hold it about a metre from the end and just drag it and up the stairs, it went around the corners very easily and would have followed the bend on your bay window with no problem at all.

One day it will all be firewood.

Yeh on some damp days or nights doesn't have to actually get wet a lot of the time. Could brush the back face with water I suppose.
