There are still those who deserve recognition though. My FiL led a Mountain Rescue Team for decades and saved 100's of lives (along with his team members of course) and was forwarded for a gong BY the team (unknown to himself) and was awarded the MBE as a result.
His example is one of selflessness and sacrifice and a well deserved award although I personally think it should have been a lot 'better' than a humble MBE given the contrast between what he did and what many 'knighthood' recipients are receiving them for.

Dunno why there is such negativism regarding Lewis, sure he's a tax exile, if I was earning that sort of money I would be as well. (Be honest wouldn't you) What would our brilliant UK Govt. due with his taxes if he were a UK resident ? Spend millions on PPE to their cronies who wouldn't recognise PPE and have no experience of it.???
Lewis just last year put £20 Million into his own foundation for disadvantaged children in the UK, He also Spends a lot of time in every country he visits with his job in local schools talking to the young/disadvantaged/ethnic whatever to give them some inspiration. To believe in themselves...
He has also spent time with all the F1 teams encouraging them to diversify their workforce.
Compared to some of the knighthoods dished out I think this one was deserved.

That's the kind of b*llox I can't stand. Just give the job to the best qualified person and screw the colour of their skin. I'm 100% sure the F1 teams do exactly that - the best qualified get the job - end of. If someone of colour, thalidomide disabled, indeterminate sexual status, satanic worshipper and baby-eater came to F1 with details of how to make their car 1 second a lap faster than the opposition that person would be snapped up.
'Diversity' means stepping over the best qualified and handing it to someone simply to meet a 'quota on colour'. Pathetic. Same goes for women in the workplace and trans people, disabled etc.
The 'inequality' issue has turned completely around - now it's the intelligent, straight, white, working class, Christian's who are 'disadvantaged'.

It makes perfect sense but sadly it's the way of the world now. Back in the 90's when I lived in London there were five of us competing for promotion, 4 white guys and a Nigerian guy who could barely speak English. The Nigerian guy failed his promotion exam 2 or 3 times until the instructor actually told him the answers. Guess who got the job?kellys_eye wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 8:40 pmThat's the kind of b*llox I can't stand. Just give the job to the best qualified person and screw the colour of their skin. I moved out of London shortly after.
