Great expectations, it wasn't what I thought it would be.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?

Started watching Killing in the Cane Field on C4. Set in Africa it is laborious and we just reached our 10 minute switch off point when at that point a dog was seen carrying a decomposing human arm into a village. We stayed with it and it lead to the discovery of murder victims in a cane field. I cannot stand moody lead actors with a back story overshadowing their main function and that part irritates. We will give episode 2 a go and see how it develops but it is 50/50 at the minute.

Binned the above after 10 minutes of episode 2.

Not sure about DI Ray on ITV this week. The lead Asian 'tec makes the comment 'I am the tick box posting here' which was quite amusing. What isn't is the I am better than you attitude of the tick box black detective on her team who is obviously not in her league as she is quite smart. It irritates and amuses, I will watch episode 2.

DI Ray is actually turning out to be quite good, I may move this to the Worth a Watch thread.

Last night we watched that Grand designs programme. It was a timber framed building in Glasgow. On the one hand having worked on a number of timber framed buildings that bit was interesting but Kevin McCloud ruins it for me. Everything is wonderful , dramatic , shows flair and character and nothing ever seems wrong to him. There seems to be a vogue for huge empty spaces , kitchens on the ground floor and going all the way up to the roof and huge windows filling gable ends. Cue McCloud fawning over it rather than even thinking it's a huge waste of space , there's no storage and it's going to cost a fortune to heat all that space. I probably won't watch another.

I stopped watching Grand Designs a few years back as I found that insufferable prick Kevin so irritating with his bullshittery.

Last night there was a female presenter on there too who's principal purpose seemed to be to grin like a Cheshire cat. I don't normally watch it but we were chatting while the adverts were on and the programme started and I saw the timber framing and thought it might be interesting but have to agree with your appraisal of him.

Watched the first episode of the sinner on Netflix last night. Has it been recommended here? Seems OK up to now.

If that is the one where there is a frenzied stabbing on the beach? It starts off well but becomes wearing as It is too slow and ponderous. The second series is the same but I never finished it as it got too boring.

DI Ray predictably had all white men as the villains and although it was quite good as a story it had to paint all the minority roles as well adjusted citizens and anyone white as stupid and racially biased. I am getting fed up with all this sh*t, every bloody advert has to have blacks shown in a positive harmonious mixed race relationship when statistically there are more deserted women left alone by black partners who leave them and any kids behind.

To be honest we have watched all of the Sinner and enjoyed it. In many respects we found it made a refreshing change to not have too much violence ( apart from the actual killing) , car chases and so on . Each to his own though.

I fell away on the second series of it.

I'm currently watching 'The Anatomy of a Scandal' on Netflix as some on here recommended. It's not bad but not binge-worthy.

Bosch legacy is back on Amazon Prime. He's now a private investigator. It's pretty good and certainly binge-worthy. I watched all 4 episodes last night 😜

We watched the first new series Bosch episode last night, it is very good. I have enjoyed every series of Bosch and they have been excellent. I think it deserves more critical acclaim than it gets compared to all the other shite pumped out.

Also, we watched the first episode of Staircase which I was reluctant to watch as the real story Netflix documentary was boring and inconclusive. This held my attention though and it has promise.
