Hi I have TalkTalk fast fibre and the speed in the room where the router is 75m on my iPad but the reading on my desktop in the next room is only 20m, is there any device I can purchase to increase the speed to my desktop computer, my iPad has the same reading in both rooms.
Could contact TalkTalk I suppose but don’t want to purchase something from them that does not make it better.
Wondering if someone can recommend a good solution?
I pondered this question for a bit,
what you may find is your iPad connects with 5Ghz (if you have the newer TT router) and the desktop is on 2.4ghz
Now the actual issue 2.4ghz if very heavily used, most people just plug in the router and that's it - Wi-Fi is divided into channels - most routers are set to default channels, if you get lots of routers/wifi devices on the same channels the Wi-FI is fighting for signal strength - A bit like trying to have a chat in a busy pub people get louder and louder, and the little voices don't get heard
The busier the Wi-Fi channel, the slower the speed, you also get channel overlap
The fix, login in to your router and change the WI-FI channel, by 3-5 channels either side of the current channel, then reconnect the Wi-Fi on the PC from the taskbar
there are various programs/apps to analyze your Wi-Fi but that can get a bit technical, eg.
