Opinions on ryobi weed cleaner thingy

Post by Someone-Else »

Update:
I don't want any chemicals as most don't work too well (as wine~O pointed out, they used to be good, but not any more) and at best the weed will die but still be there. I have decided to go with Bob225's idea (Only because I am in no rush, and have a lot of time to do the job) I am going to use a wire brush with a long handle.

(I thought the Crikey Mikey video had its comments turned off so that no one can point out that bleach does the same thing and costs less)

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Final update (I hope)

I ordered a long handled brush, it works very well on weeds growing from splits/cracks in concrete.

The brush (Brick is to give perspective, the brush handle is long)

What weeds?

The only "problem" is if it's more like a crevice than a crack, this crevice will no doubt be full of soil/similar and weeds, then the brush is of little effect to the weeds, but it's much cheaper than the ryobi thingy.

To get round your problem of cracks I find an old dinner knife does the trick . Thin fairly flexible blade , cut a notch in the end with an angle grinder creats a simple hook to pull out the roots.

Well if it's any help I now have one on order, I have loads of brick pavers and use a wire brush on a stick type tool but it's still a long exhausting job!
I will let you know how it goes.
I have bought quite a few Ryobi tools over the years and with one exception (the jigsaw) have found them very good.
They do make a wide and sometimes bizarre range of tools, would not be surprised to see a brightly coloured 18v dildo next!
One tip if you do look at Ryobi stuff before you buy check out their on line store often cheaper than through other outlets. :thumbright:

Tool came today, got to say I am impressed.
I tried it on a small patch, only took a few minutes to clear the weeds, of course it does not pull out the roots but certainly decimates the top growth! :thumbright:
