OK I understand what your mate is saying and that makes sense, but why or how the damage at the bottom as well?
Incidentally it's surprising but 'The Black Hole' hasn't masked anything of any value in word, excel or indeed any other programme that I have used in the past week.
Task bar looks to be getting worse though?

are you sure the monitor could not have been dropped or badly knocked while you were away - friend is pretty sure looking at a machanical fault

BTW - has that circle got any larger since you first saw it?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

def not dropped or knocked, my sister in law & husband stayed here. No parties and not positioned where some over excuberence could cause damage.
Not changing in size or shape.

water damage?
I've just noticed some water marks on the screen (much like a dirty window), follow that vertically and there is a shower above.
Although the ceiling shows no damage or staining and certainly not leaking now (and my sister in law would not be making any repairs whilst here).
Spilt drink? not likely due to position.
It may have to remain a mystery, is that 22" good then?

I like it :thumbright:

This is the monitor I bought - ViewSonic VA2216w 22” Widescreen LCD Monitor
Staples have it for £150 inc VAT - Amazon price is £160

There are a couple of other 22" there for similar price

I also have a 19" Acer AL1916W which came from Amazon and was £100 - Looks like this may be the replacement? Acer X193W 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor

Obviously you can go a lot more in cost and if you are doing digital photography work you may need better.
Also, if you want a DVI compatible screen you will definately pay a lot more, but personally, I reckon there is not a lot to choose between the screens for day-to-day work and your choice is mostly down to how big a screen you want.
If I needed another screen, I think I would just buy the same 22" again - the extra screen 'real-estate' is fab
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Def not.

Even if Marksson had not eliminated the PC, using the monitor controls to move the screen around would have made the circle move around if it was a PC fault or PC generated problem.

Must admit I like the idea of a 22" screen.
I remember not too many years ago a 21" would have set you back a few grand!

My 19" Cibox LCD set me back £200 a couple of years ago, talk about depreciation!
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

Whatever it is it's growing & multiplying.
I've tried a different monitor to rule out PC.
1st pic shows it a couple of weeks ago & 2nd shows it now.

Growing makes sense if it was due to a trauma to the screen - think back to the analogy of the stone in the pond and ripples coming out from middle

Interesting lower one - flattened at bottom. And lookign at top one again, that too looks like the top is ever so slightly flattened now.

even flatter from where I am looking, that 22" is out of stock but they do seem to be pretty keen prices.
I may have to leave this monitor on just to see how much they grow? Whilst I understand the analogy, why should the trauma progress?

it almost appears to be contagious from one pixel to another?
The bottom one looks to be growing much quicker than the top one, or possibly not? To knock out the same number of pixels in the same time on a circumference, would appear to take longer with a larger circle.
