New ceiling

This is where you can post pictures of extremely poor workmanship, whether it is done by a dodgy tradesman or by an incompetent DIY'er. Instructions on how to post pictures can be found in here.

Mate some of those 'builders' are just chancers.

The place I live in has all these issue which I need to fix at some point.
E.g.
Never cleaned the walls properly and all the paint is pealing off.

Sockets far too near a work surface, can't get a plug in

Same thing with the floor, cut the board off no on a joist and now it depresses when you walk on the carpet

I had a reputable TV company in North London, put in an aeriel and 4 connection points. F#ckin# idiot drilled the cables through my build in furniture with a SDS masonary bit and made a right mess of the hole.

Makes me angry just to think about.

Its why I got so interested into DIY. :angryfire:

Unfortunately there as so many chancers about who have no sense of pride in their work it gives the trade a bad name.

I have no problem a guy making a mistake and generally are quite forgiving about it, we all do it from time to time

i think the problem is that the rest of the building is to light and floated up and away from the new ceiling.

This made me laugh so hard. Thanks for posting and brightening my week :thank_you:

Unfortunately the trade mistakes I usually encounter are more sigh inducing and less hilarious.

omg! that is a great pic! uhm should borrow that for a 'how not to board a ceiling article'...
god ive seen flappy cut ends and saggy ceilings, even a whole coat of skim come down in one big flexible sheet but ive honestly never seen an entire ceiling drop in one hit just like that.. brilliant!

please dont tell me they just screwed it back up and filled the holes
All my advice should be taken with a rather large pinch of salt, all the gear, absolutely no idea whatsoever ;)

Thankfully we too could laugh, would have been totally different if someone had been hurt though. We had a number of contractors come and quote to replace our kitchen and I’m sure when I asked for them to include for replacing the ceiling in the quote they must of thought I was a neurotic woman, as they all said it looked ok and didn‘t need replacing. I wasn’t surprised there was a problem with this ceiling but can honestly say I expected the problem to be with the skim not the actual ceiling itself as we’d had problems with everything the original contractor did which sadly was most of everything we had done to our property. We're coming to the end (after 2 ½ years of hell) of putting everything right this contractor messed up.
