Dave,
As the most visited list is still there, then it was Ccleaner that removed the History. Just unticking that one item means that you can continue using Ccleaner as before but it will leave you list alaone.

Changing from 32 to 64bit Windows 7 won't show much noticable difference in speed unless you upgrade the RAM quite a lot.

I have two Win 7 PCs side by side and one has 32bit Home Premium with 3GB RAM and separate graphics card, and the other 64 bit Home premium with 4GB RAM but onboard graphics.
Nothing is noticably different in performance between the two.

I would save the 64bit to put it on another machine that does not, at present, have Win7.
