My shower tray is a 'high quality stone resin' (it says on the tin) but there are no upstands - in fact I didn't see any like that when I was looking - is this something used mostly in trade? It's now in situe with the floor tiles laid, so can't really do much about that other than damage limitation - it is 'ragged in' under normal wall, but not the plasterboard on batton end. It has been siliconed (but it sounds as though this may be better replace ??? with what?? )

Hi DIY
Don't panic it isn't just about the shower tray. The normal trays we take out that have the cracks in them it is normally failure of the silicone around the tray which has caused the damaged walls. Obviously with the upstands this doesn't happen.
The trays that have the upstands are available to anyone, it all depends if your plumbers merchant/bathroom showroom stocks them as to whether you know about them.
As Tic says it is a combination of a lot of things which make for a good long lasting job. I just think the trays with the upstands play a big part.
