If you havent finished your gates then have a look at www.lecky.co.uk I get spheres from here but their catalogue is very comprehensive and is I think better quality than most others. Other than that try your local blacksmith. I am happy to cut steel to length for poeple and give a bit of advise on making when people come in to me. Beware though get prices off them before they cut you anything. I have heard of people charging silly prices for small amounts of steel. As for welders I would get a mig unless you have a large amount of free time and a good bit of patience for practicing the stick. You can very often get small migs second hand from adtrader etc that have been bought with great enthusiasm and never used. Lastly make sure you have a good mask. Auto darkening masks are now as little as £30 and make life much easier for you when you are starting out. Good Luck

Poor old scruff.

Like me, he's probably been on a welding course. Makes it all very difficult.

Whatever you do diyguys, don't go on a course. It's all very easy if you don't go on a course.

If you don't go on enough courses, who knows? You might become as competent as the guy behind handymantips on youtube.

DIYguys, would you like to borrow my welder, I have an HD video camera, to entertain the boys till Christmas 2012 at least.

I reckon you could make Handymantits.co.uk look good.

Scruff,

Thought you might need this:

http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1826,15 ... 07,00.html

Looks quite tasty really.

But don't cook it yet because it may be out of date by the time diy finishes his welding.

This, I am lead to believe, is an example of Scruff's earlier welding attempts.

Where he tried welding the Safety Valve shut.

It blew the hats off the spectators.
